The majority of searchable ARDA data is English language text. Some of the bibliographic citation data does include international characters, such as ñ and ü. The following explains how to enter such international characters into text search fields.

The table below lists a set of international characters that can be entered into text search fields, along with a 4-digit code that is used to enter such characters. To enter a particular character from the table below into a text search field, perform the following steps:
1) Make sure cursor focus is in the text entry field at the position desired;
2) Press and hold down the Alt key on the keyboard;
3) While holding down the Alt key, type the 4-digit sequence associated with the desired character (e.g., for ñ, type 0241);
4) Release the Alt key (after all 4-digits entered), and the particular character will appear in the entry field.

Note also that the characters shown below can also be highlighted with the mouse and "copy & pasted" as desired.
